Lausanne, 19 November, 2009 – The Executive Committee Meeting of AIPS and UEPS were held in Sochi. Russian health resort on the Black Sea greeted the participants from 25 countries of four continents. Was present from EC AIPS: President: Gianni MERLO (Italy), First Vice-President: Esat YILMAER (Turkey), Treasurer: Jorge RIBEIRO (Portugal), Vice-President: Kostantinos VERNIKOS (Greece), Nikolai DOLGOPOLOV (Russia), Manoucher ZANDI (Iran), Member: Mohammad AL MALKI (Qatar), Emanuel FANTANEANU (Romania), Haifeng ZHANG (China), Evelyn WATTA (Kenya), Adolf Ingi ERLINGSSON (Island), Mitchell OBI (Nigeria), Dezso DOBOR (Hungary), Raul GARCIA SALGUERO (México). And the meetings were really held at high level. At the altitude of 1540 meters we enjoyed the view of the mountains and of the new sport Olympic facilities that were under construction. We also saw the construction of the important facilities on the sea level. Besides we did the city. I would say that we were really impressed by the rendezvous’ with high governmental authorities. I was told that the Deputy Prime Minister of Russia Dmitriy Kozak will greet us at the final reception and will spend a quote of an our in our company. AIPS President Gianni Merlo was introduced to Mr.Kozak. We were honored to translate the long and, believe me, very fruitful conversation in which our both sides exchanged opinions and ideas. As a result a new option emerged: to hold the 2013 AIPS Congress in Sochi on the eve of the 2014 Winter Olympic games. This notion was also discussed with the Mayor of Sochi Anatoly Pakhomov and the Minister of the Press Department of the region of Krasnodar Valeriu Kasianov. We also met twice with the president of the Organizing Committee “Sochi – 2014” Dmitry Chernyshenko. The native of Sochi presented his detailed report on preparation of the city for the Olympics to both bodies – AIPS and UEPS – and was greeted by applause.
